UTAH’S LIFE SCIENCES INDUSTRY TAKES TO THE HILL

January 30, 2023

Utah’s vibrant life sciences industry was on full display January 27 as part of the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity “Life Sciences Day on the Hill”. The event, held at the state capitol, provided lawmakers the opportunity to interact one-on-one with leaders from local med tech, biotech and diagnostics companies. More than two dozen companies exhibited their life-changing innovations and helped legislators understand first hand the tests, technologies and treatments they’re developing to fight cancer, degenerative back pain, heart disease, neurological disorders, Parkinson’s, stroke and more.

The state’s life sciences industry accounts for over 130,000 jobs at above average wages and contributes more than $13 billion in GDP.

“These companies are just a sampling of our industry’s commitment to innovation and advancing healthcare to improve and save countless lives,” said Kelvyn Cullimore, president and CEO of BioUtah.
