UTAH REPS. CURTIS AND MOORE TOUR BIOMERIEUX

Representatives John Curtis (R-UT) and Blake Moore (R-UT) on Thursday toured bioMérieux to see first-hand the cutting-edge diagnostics the company develops to detect infection disease, drive optimal treatment decisions, and improve patient care. 

bioMérieux. a family-owned company founded in France, in 1963 has grown to become a world leader in in vitro diagnostics.

The genius behind their solutions is that physicians, for example, can test for multiple pathogens, such as COVID-19, RSV, strep, and the flu, all at once, and get a result in as little as 15 minutes.

“Having Representatives John Curtis and Blake Moore tour our life sciences companies is one of the most effective ways to showcase the important work our industry is doing for patients and the healthcare system,” said Kelvyn Cullimore, president and CEO of BioUtah, who was in attendance. “We thank them both for their strong support and thank bioMérieux for hosting the visit.”

bioMérieux’s North American headquarters are located in Salt Lake City, Utah, where more than 3,500 team members are employed. 

This year, bioMérieux was awarded the 2024 Business of the Year Award from the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity, recognizing the company’s innovative and pioneering spirit.

The story of bioMérieux in Utah started with BioFire, launched in the University of Utah’s Research Park in 1990 by a few passionate entrepreneurs dedicated to testing related to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to identify infectious disease. BioFire’s products caught the eye of bioMerieux, and in 2014, BioFire was acquired by bioMérieux.
