
Utah Life Sciences at BIO 2022

Utah’s life sciences industry left its mark on this week’s 2022 BIO International Convention at the San Diego Convention Center (June 13-16). Curavit, Curza, Recursion, Cytiva and Thermo Fisher showcased their companies at the convention that featured more than 3,000 companies and 100-plus panel sessions over four days. Topics included cell and gene therapies, next-gen innovation, drug discovery, business development, digital health, public policy and more.
Irit Rappley, vice president for neuroscience and translational research at Recursion participated on a panel titled, “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Case Studies in Rare Disease Drug Development”.
“This panel highlighted both the diversity of approaches to tech enabled drug discovery, and the commitment of so many companies to building an ecosystem that is focused on benefiting patients,” noted Rappley.
The Curavit team, led by Dave Hanaman, co-founder, president and chief commercial officer, made connections at the convention through partnership meetings and a booth display. Curza was also there to take advantage of the extensive networking opportunities. Cytiva and Thermo Fisher shared their story with a significant presence on the exhibit floor.
BioUtah’s VP for Programming and Government Affairs, Denise Bell, also attended the conference to help spread the word about Utah’s vibrant and growing BioHive community.
