Thermo Fisher Scientific Expands in Utah with New Bioprocessing Manufacturing Site in Ogden

April 20, 2022

Thermo Fisher Scientific hosted a grand opening ceremony and ribbon-cutting event at its new single-use technology manufacturing facility in Ogden, Utah. The state-of-the-art facility produces high quality materials that the biopharma industry needs to develop new vaccines, including those for COVID-19, and breakthrough therapies. The company now employs more than 2,000 colleagues across the state of Utah, establishing a critical hub for bioprocessing. Additional Thermo Fisher sites are located in Logan and South Jordan.

The ceremony will include remarks from Thermo Fisher executives and local officials discussing the importance of expanding bioprocessing production in Utah to support economic and employment growth in the region along with the advancement of new vaccines and therapies. Following the event, attendees participated in small group tours and a reception.

The following government officials and Thermo Fisher executives were onsite:

·         Senator Mitt Romney

·         Senator Mike Lee

·         U.S. Representative Blake Moore

·         Paul Parker, senior vice president, strategy and corporate development, Thermo Fisher Scientific

The Ogden manufacturing site is part of Thermo Fisher’s $650 million capital investment to expand bioprocessing production capabilities. As the number of biological drugs and vaccines has increased significantly over the last several years, Thermo Fisher is supporting its biopharma customers as they scale production to meet both the short-term demands related to COVID-19 as well as long-term efforts to develop new vaccines and biologics for other conditions.
