Governor Cox Tours Teva, Stryker and ARUP Laboratories

Gov. Cox this week toured Teva Pharmaceuticals, Stryker, and ARUP Laboratories to see firsthand the life-changing technology and innovation taking place in Utah’s dynamic life sciences community. Following the facility tours, Cox held on-site town halls to engage with employees. He applauded the industry’s mission to improve and save lives and noted that the sector was a strategic priority for the state.

“A picture paints a thousand words,” said Bioutah President and CEO, Kelvyn Cullimore, who helped to arrange the tours. “Having Governor Cox and other policymakers tour our life sciences companies is one of the most effective ways to showcase the important work our industry is doing for patients and to advance health. We thank the Governor for his support.”

Teva is a global leader in generic, biosimilar, and innovative medicines. In Utah, Teva has two facilities in Salt Lake City. The Salt Lake City East facility produces transdermal patches, nasal sprays, oral thin films, liquids/creams/ointments and oral suspensions, including naloxone which rapidly reverses opioid overdoses. The Salt Lake City West location manufactures oral solid dose (OSD), capsules.

 

Stryker is a global leader in medical technologies, delivering products and services in medsurg, neurotechnology, orthopaedic and spine. Stryker’s Utah facility is home to the company’s neurovascular division. With more than 500 employees, the division manufactures complex technology for stroke intervention – an innovation that is saving lives around the world.

 

ARUP Laboratories is one of the nation’s largest reference laboratories, serving patients  with cutting-edge diagnostics. ARUP offers more than 3,000 tests and test combinations ranging from routine screening tests to esoteric molecular and genetic assays. Today, ARUP owns eight buildings in the University of Utah Research Park that together include more than 70 laboratories and 4,300 employees.
