Connecting with Life Sciences in Logan

BioUtah joined Utah State University on September 4 for the 2026 USU/BioUtah Networking Lunch at the David B. Haight Alumni Center in Logan, with about 55 guests registered. The event brought together Utah life sciences industry members and USU faculty and staff for networking, lunch, and a set of short presentations connecting the industry with USU’s life sciences research, education, and programs.

USU President Brad Mortensen opened the program and welcomed BioUtah President & CEO Kelvyn Cullimore to the podium, who shared an update on BioUtah’s Talent Hub program. Cullimore then welcomed Dean Derek McLean of the Quinney College of Agriculture & Natural Resources, who introduced Sean Johnson, Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies at the College of Arts and Sciences. Johnson welcomed Dean David Jones of the College of Engineering, who introduced Dean Dirk Vanderwall of the College of Veterinary Medicine. Vanderwall closed the program by thanking attendees and BioUtah for its partnership with USU, and announced three optional tours: the university’s Veterinary Medicine Building, its antiviral research lab, and a walking tour of Dr. Irina Polejaeva’s gene editing and animal cloning lab.
