Congresssional Staffer Tours
April 17, 2025
On Tuesday, healthcare staff from Rep. Blake Moore’s office spent the day with BioUtah representatives, Denise Bell and Abbey Brewer, touring several life sciences companies. Moore’s aides, Andrew Mansell, Reuben Mendenhall, and Hunter Williams, were on-site to learn more about the innovative work being done at Curza, Blackrock Neurotech, and ARUP Laboratories. Curza is developing a new class of antibiotics needed to fight the growing problem of antimicrobial resistance. Blackrock Neurotech’s brain computer interface technology is helping those afflicted with paralysis and other neurological disorders to walk, talk, hear, see, and feel again. Offering more than 3,000 tests, from routine screening tests to esoteric molecular and genetic assays, ARUP is a worldwide leader in innovative laboratory research and development.
“It’s important to have our policymakers make these field visits to better understand the tremendous advances our companies are pioneering here in Utah, and the challenges they face,” said Kelvyn Cullimore, president and CEO of BioUtah. “We appreciate the support of Rep. Blake Moore and thank his staff for taking the time to personally engage with our industry.”
