BioUtah Life Sciences Delegation Showcases Utah Innovation in Australia
October 23, 2025
As part of Governor Spencer Cox’s Australia Trade Mission from October 19–25, BioUtah led a focused Life Sciences Track highlighting Utah’s growing global leadership in biotechnology, medtech, diagnostics, and health innovation. The delegation met with prominent Australian partners, investors, and regulators to explore opportunities for collaboration and market expansion.
Companies participating in the trade mission included representatives of Owlet, Paterna Bio, Quansys Biosciences, Aust Manufacturing, and Microvascular Therapeutics.
The program began in Sydney with sessions at Cicada Innovations and Southern Star Research, offering an in-depth look at Australia’s thriving clinical trials ecosystem. Delegates also participated in briefings with the U.S. Consulate and the Therapeutic Goods Administration, Australia’s version of FDA. Mobius Medical, another CRO, offered training on the Australian healthcare system and reimbursement. The group also interacted with the Medical Technology Association of Australia, and AusBio the national associations for medical devices and pharmaceuticals, respectively.
The itinerary continued in Melbourne with meetings at Horizon3Healthcare Fund, Invest Victoria, and Invetech, followed by the AusBioTech Gala, where Utah’s delegation networked with key industry leaders. The mission concluded with visits to Prime Financial and CSL’s Jumar BioIncubator, focusing on R&D incentives and innovation partnerships. Together, these engagements strengthened Utah’s international connections and underscored the state’s role as a dynamic hub in the global life sciences community. Companies also came away with a clear understanding of the attractive setting for conducting clinical trials in Australia along with how to market products down under. All in all it was a busy, but productive trade mission.
