Representative Moore Tours Utah Companies – BD, Edwards Lifesciences and Stryker
August 12, 2021
BioHive on Wednesday was front and center as U.S. Representative Blake Moore (R-UT-1) toured Edwards Lifesciences, BD and Stryker – all leading medical device manufacturers in Utah that provide thousands of good-paying, stable jobs.
During the visits, Moore was able to see first-hand the work that these companies do to innovate and produce life-changing technologies.
“We were honored to have Representative Moore tour the Edwards facility and learn more about the complex processes involved in manufacturing and delivering our heart valves throughout the world,” said Nate Arnim, Draper plant manager at Edwards Lifesciences.
In addition to the tours, Moore had the opportunity to sit down with key executives in the companies to hear about the opportunities and challenges they face. Workforce and supply chain issues were discussed as well as the need to ensure that federal policies promote, rather than stand in the way of continued innovation.
“Utah’s life science industry is one of the fastest-growing in the country, and I was grateful to tour companies that have made innovative strides in life-saving technologies while boosting our statewide economy. BioHive’s innovation hub is a reflection of Utah’s rising life sciences industry, and BD, Edwards and Stryker develop cutting-edge technologies that make impactful differences in patients’ lives. BioUtah’s commitment to quality, care, and innovation is evident, and I am grateful to learn about and represent this critical sector of Utah’s workforce.”
“Representative Moore recognizes the importance of Utah’s life sciences industry (collectively known as BioHive), not only to the state’s economy but to advancing healthcare worldwide,” said Kelvyn Cullimore, president and CEO at BioUtah. “We’re fortunate to have such a thoughtful lawmaker representing us in Congress.”
Moore stopped for photos by the BioHive banner, which was proudly displayed in the companies’ lobbies.
