Board Members

Erin E. Barry is VP of Government Affairs for Merit Medical Systems headquartered in South Jordan, Utah. As head of Government Affairs, Ms. Barry oversees all Company local, state, and federal government relations in jurisdictions in which Merit has manufacturing facilities or sales offices. These include the states of Utah, Texas, Virginia, California, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts and the countries of The US, Ireland, The Netherlands, France, Singapore, Australia, and Mexico.

Ms. Barry directs all state and federal lobbying efforts on key issues including taxation, international trade & tariffs, FDA regulation, and state and local economic incentives and compliance.

Prior to joining Merit in 2015, Ms. Barry was Deputy Director of Government Affairs for the National Air Traffic Controllers (NATCA) where she was responsible for Congressional outreach and lobbying efforts. Prior to NATCA, Ms. Barry was Vice President is Government Affairs for Unspam, a technology startup offering unique filtering software to state governments to protect minors from inappropriate Internet content.

Ms. Barry has a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and Media and Politics from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

Ms. Barry lives in Park City with her husband, Greg Fredde, and their two young children. 

Dr. Andrew Hemmert is the Senior Vice President of Molecular Research and Development for bioMérieux. Based in Salt Lake City, Andrew leads global teams focused on the creation of easy-to-use, rapid, and comprehensive molecular diagnostics. bioMérieux innovations to infectious disease diagnostics from these teams include the largest available menu for respiratory, blood stream, gastrointestinal, central nervous system, and skeletal infections for hospital customers. Additionally, the bioMerieux SpotFire system, delivers rapid, comprehensive results for the point of care setting. Andrew is also an active contributor to the scientific community through multiple publications, grants, and patents.

Jared Bauer is CEO of Seek Labs, a diagnostics and pharmaceutical development company, he co-founded in 2016. Bauer has focused his professional endeavors on the medtech industry and is passionate about healthcare innovation. In 2012, he acquired BurnFree Products, and led the team to expand BurnFree distribution to 58 countries before a successful exit in 2016. He also currently serves as trustee of The Oliver Fund (a non-profit he co-founded with his wife, Sarah), Chairman of BioHive, and previously served as an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at Ensign College. He holds a BS in Economics from the University of Utah, and an MBA from Boise State University.

Dr. David J. Bearss is an experienced entrepreneur and drug developer with 20 plus years’ experience in the academic and industry settings. He is an expert in small molecule drug development and in the use of genetic model systems in drug discovery and has deep experience in translational research focused on drug development and the use of genetic markers to predict drug sensitivity. Dave has discovered 16 compounds that have had INDs accepted and moved forward in clinical development and has been a founder of eight biotech companies.

Prior to becoming Halia’s Chief Scientific Officer in January 2021 and CEO in March 2022, Dave was the CEO of Tolero Pharmaceuticals, which was acquired by Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma in 2017. He also served as Chief Scientific Officer at Montigen Pharmaceuticals prior to it’s acquisition by SuperGen Inc., and stayed on as Chief Scientific Officer at SuperGen to have oversight on early drug discovery and development. He was the founding Co-Director of the Center for Investigational Therapeutics at the Huntsman Cancer Institute; Associate Professor in the Department of Oncological Sciences at the University of Utah; and Associate Professor of Physiology & Developmental Biology at Brigham Young University. Dave received a PhD in cellular biology from University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, TX.

Jonathan is a results-oriented operations management professional with over 20 years of diverse, servant leadership experience at large world-class companies. He has an outstanding record of achievement through innovation, building cross-functional teams, and managing the execution of projects. Jonathan has significant capabilities in Six Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, and change leadership driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Joined ATL Technology as CEO in March 2025. 15+ years of experience of executive leadership experience at sponsor-owned medical device and packaging companies, with an emphasis on high-quality customer manufacturing solutions. Previous roles include CEO and senior leadership positions at Flexan, MRP Solutions, ITxM, Vesta and Cardinal Health. Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from the University of Notre Dame; Master’s Degree in Finance and Strategy from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Dr. Myles Greenberg has more than 25 years of experience in growing healthcare, medical technology and life sciences firms as an entrepreneur, operating executive, board member, clinician and investor. Myles currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Alucent Biomedical, Inc. Alucent is developing a novel drug-device combination therapy for the treatment of patients with vascular disease. President & Chief Executive Officer, Alucent Biomedical, Inc. Prior to joining Alucent as CEO, he served as chief development officer at IntegraMed America (now part of US Fertility), a private equity backed healthcare services firm. Previously, Myles was a partner or principal at early-stage venture capital firms CHL Medical Partners, HealthInvest Equity Partners and Pappas Ventures. As a start-up venture investor and board member, he often served as lead director or in an interim executive management role at many dynamic companies in the biotechnology, medical device, and healthcare services and information technology sectors, such as Ambra Health (acquired by Intelerad Medical Systems), Angiomics (acquired by PDL BioPharma), Flowcardia (acquired by CR Bard), Liposcience (acquired by LabCorp), Millennium Pharmacy Systems (acquired by PharMerica), Oriel Therapeutics (acquired by Novartis / Sandoz), NuVasive (Nasdaq: NUVA), Syntonix Pharmaceuticals (acquired by Biogen Idec), Urgent Care Centers of New England / CareWell Urgent Care (acquired by a private equity firm), and Vascular Pathways (acquired by CR Bard). In addition to leading the Alucent team, Myles currently serves as vice chair of the board of directors of BioUtah, Utah’s life sciences trade association, and Focused Therapeutics, a start-up medical device company that he co-founded. He also serves the University of Utah as an adjunct faculty member & Entrepreneur-In-Residence for the Center for Medical Innovation at the School of Medicine. Myles began his career as a faculty physician and asst clinical director at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center / Harvard Medical School in Boston. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, MD from the Yale University School of Medicine and a BAS from the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and Applied Science and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Lincoln Howell is the CEO of Amplēo, supporting the Amplēo operations and strategy behind its world-class network of consultants and executives.

Before becoming the CEO in 2022, Lincoln served in C-suite and senior leadership positions for venture capital, private equity, and global Fortune 500 companies. He has a passion for applying strategy, innovation, and continuous improvement throughout all business functions to unlock growth, and has supported biotech, e-commerce, manufacturing, technology, real estate, and industrial markets. Lincoln currently provides advisory and fractional executive services in addition to investing in small businesses and commercial real estate.

Prior to Nusano, Lowe served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Cortexyme, Inc., a biotech company focused on Alzheimer’s and neurodegenerative diseases. There, he led the company’s IPO in 2019, oversaw a cash injection via a PIPE (private investment in public equity) in 2020, and guided the company’s eventual acquisition by Novosteo. Lowe holds a bachelor’s degree in Business from California Polytechnic State University and an MBA in Finance from St. Mary’s University.

Jeff is the Region Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for the Canyons Region (Utah and Idaho) of Intermountain Health. In this role, Jeff guides the formulation of strategy, drives implementation of strategic initiatives, and leads the strategic planning process.

Prior to joining Intermountain Healthcare in 2018, Jeff was an early employee and Regional General Manager at DoorDash, responsible for operations, growth, and strategy in southern California and southwest US. Before DoorDash, Jeff was a Captain in the United States Marine Corps. Jeff started his career as management consultant with The Parthenon Group in Boston, MA.

Jeff received his MBA at Stanford University and BA at Williams College. He lives in Salt Lake City with his wife Jamie, and his four young children, who are very sweet and a total handful.

Haven McCall is the founder of Canyon Laboratories and has served as its CEO since its creation in October 2020. He is an experienced leader who has spent more than 23 years working in key positions at large multinational corporations in the areas of clinical research, quality, and regulatory. His doctoral studies at the University of Southern California focused on improving the standard of care for patients through risk mitigation and quality principles.

Haven is an active member of the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative, Society of Clinical Research Associates, Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society, American Society for Quality, Project Management Institute and The Organization for Professionals in Regulatory Affairs. Over the last 20 years, he has participated within these organizations to drive improvements for industry best practices, regulations, guidance documents, standards, and directives.

Throughout his career, Dr. McCall has taught graduate-level courses in clinical research, quality, and regulatory at various universities. He currently teaches several graduate level regulatory science and biotechnology courses at Johns Hopkins University.

Phil brings over 20 years of experience building innovative product platforms and leading high-growth businesses in the medical technology industry. His career spans a wide range of general management and executive leadership roles across medical device, orthodontics, and dental industries. He brings a deep understanding of what it takes to commercialize new, innovative solutions in a global, matrix environment.

Prior to BD, Phil was President, Orthodontics Group, at Henry Schein; the world’s largest dental and non-acute medical distributor. In addition, he has held business unit leadership and executive roles at both Danaher and Johnson & Johnson. While at Danaher, he led marketing for the dental portfolio of 3D CBCT imaging, digital scanning, and consumables products. During his time at Johnson & Johnson, Phil held roles focused on commercializing new innovative technology in advanced energy devices, hernia repair and restorative plastic surgery.

Phil began his career by serving in the U.S. Navy as a Nuclear Surface Warfare Officer where he led nuclear operations on the USS Dwight D Eisenhower (CVN-69) and was a Naval Reserve Officers Training Corp (NROTC) instructor at the University of Notre Dame. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toledo, a Nuclear Engineering Officer certification from the U.S. Navy and a Master of Business Administration from Indiana University.

Dr. Rasmussen co-founded BioFire Diagnostics (then Idaho Technology) in 1990. He served as Chief Operating Officer from 1999 to 2008 and President from 2008 to 2014. Dr. Rasmussen became Chief Executive Officer of BioFire Diagnostics after the acquisition of BioFire by BioMérieux in January of 2014. Dr. Rasmussen was previously with ARUP Laboratories as Medical Director from 1996 to 1999. He also held positions at the University of Utah Cardiology Department and Cardiovascular Pharmacology and Engineering Consultants. Dr. Rasmussen is an inventor on over 20 patents in the fields of real-time PCR, sample-to-answer molecular diagnostics and syndromic testing for infectious diseases. Dr. Rasmussen has a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Utah and a B.S in Biochemistry from Utah State University.

Josh Walker is a seasoned healthcare leader with over 20 years of experience. His expertise spans diverse regions, including the United States, Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East, and Europe. Throughout his career, Josh has successfully managed complex operational and strategic healthcare initiatives and led high-performing teams. He currently holds the position of Co-Founder and COO at Nomi Health. Previously, Josh served as the Chief Operating Officer of Upwell Health, driving substantial revenue growth in the first year. He has also held leadership roles at Red Pine Consulting, OptumInsight, J3 Bioscience, and Huntsman Biotechnology Corporation. Josh holds an MBA with a Special Emphasis in Healthcare from The George Washington University School of Business, along with other certifications and a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Sciences and Health Economics from the University of Utah.

Jacey Skinner is a government relations lawyer who has held a variety of senior leadership roles in Utah state government. Before joining Ballard Spahr, she served as General Counsel to Governor Gary R. Herbert. In that role, she negotiated legislation, oversaw the Governor’s legislative review and bill signing, coordinated litigation with the Attorney General’s Office, advised the Governor, his cabinet, and the Lieutenant Governor on legal, policy, and ethical issues, and oversaw Gov. Herbert’s judicial appointment process. She has also served as the Deputy State Court Administrator for the State of Utah, where she facilitated policy development and managed relations with the state legislature, executive branch agencies, the Utah Judicial Council, and the Utah Supreme Court. Her experience additionally includes serving as Director of the Utah Sentencing Commission and President of the National Association of Sentencing Commissions, where she oversaw sentencing guidelines, assisted with judicial appointments, and advised the legislature, judiciary, and Governor’s Office on sentencing policy. Jacey was a Deputy District Attorney from 2003 to 2009 at the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s office, where she tried both felony and juvenile cases and oversaw policy development and advocacy as Vice Chair of the Statewide Association of Prosecutors Legislative Action Committee.
