Promotus Taps Industry Veteran Frank Sarcone as CEO for Full-Scale Launch of KneeMD
January 15, 2019
Salt Lake City, January 11, 2019: Promotus LLC, a Salt Lake City-based medical device company, has announced the hiring of Frank Sarcone as its new CEO to take the reins on commercialization of its flagship knee rehabilitation product, KneeMD. Having previously supported the company as an industry advisor, Mr. Sarcone joined the team full time in January 2019.
Promotus recently completed the design and manufacture of its patient model KneeMD, a patient-controlled knee rehabilitation device designed to help improve range of motion after total knee replacement (TKA) or other major knee procedures. The new model is ideal for use as part of home exercise program before or after surgery and allows patients to adjust the intensity and frequency of therapy to minimize discomfort while working on extension.
A three-year clinical trial of KneeMD at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD was just completed and data is currently being analyzed. Interim results show a clinically significant improvement in knee injury and osteoarthritis outcome score (KOOS), a standard instrument used for evaluating short- and long-term symptoms and function in people with knee injury.
“KneeMD can be a game changer for the many individuals who undergo TKAs each year,” said Sarcone. “I’m proud to be leading the charge in delivering that message to the orthopedic, sports medicine, and physical therapy communities.”
A nearly 25-year veteran of the medical device industry, Frank has proven entrepreneurial and business acumen in supporting start-up companies, implementing direct sales and distribution models, and finding strategic partners and investors. Frank has also represented companies such as Biomet, Arthrex, Stryker, Invuity, and Ivy Sports Medicine, leading teams to success with his core philosophy of talent, service and relationships.
Sarcone will work to support KneeMD’s ongoing relationships with orthopedic clinics throughout the United States as well as develop new relationships nationwide.
“This is an exciting time – the patient model is ready for launch and we expect the data from our clinical trial will demonstrate KneeMD is a must-have device both pre- and post-surgery,” said Sarcone. “Promotus is poised to scale up quickly and I am thrilled to join the team.”
