Chris Gibson

Chris is the co-founder and CEO of Recursion, a digital biology company using technology to industrialize drug discovery. Today, Recursion or its subsidiaries have 3 clinical-stage programs with dozens more on the way to the clinic. Recursion has raised more than $200M from investors across the globe with a vision to one day discover hundreds of new medicines and bring them to patients at affordable and sustainable prices. Chris completed his PhD in Bioengineering at the University of Utah in the fall of 2013 before taking a leave of absence from medical school (he was enrolled in the MD/PhD program) to found and grow Recursion. He developed the core technology underlying this venture while in the lab of Dr. Dean Li. Chris comes from a family of entrepreneurs, is a graduate of Rice University with degrees in bioengineering and managerial studies. Chris is also a Board Member of CureHHT, a patient advocacy group for Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia. Chris is passionate about building a more diverse and inclusive biotech and technology ecosystem in Utah, as well as bringing sustainable approaches to our community to help us achieve our goals without risking our health or our environment’s. Chris enjoys cycling on both the road and the trails that cut through Utah’s great wilderness, as well as spending precious time with his family.
